you're saying that you had a '55 convertible frame with engine/trans/rear etc for sale for several years and finally sold it for $1000Canadian?? Was it rusted, damaged, etc? Sounds WAY too cheap for a convertible frame....???

Seems like a lot of guys with convertibles are upgrading to aftermarket frames and those who don't already have good frames. The market for stock frames is pretty weak.

I have a little trouble believing that there is no--or very little demand for convertible frames.

I agree Lee... but maybe we are living in the past? I'd think a convertible frame, with it's HUGE strong X member would be a decent upgrade for any TriFive car, and there seem to be many who are needing better frames. Of course the additional weight of a convertible frame would be a detriment to such a swap..

OR is there some reason a convertible frame wouldn't work with a Hardtop or Nomad etc??

Are you going to drive to or pay the freight from Canada on a chassis? I think that's the problem, he wasn't where the buyers were.

As said, stock frames and powertrains are still cheap.

I know of no reason a convertible frame wouldn't work for any other model as long as the body mount differences are addressed. But IMO there are better solutions for stiffening up a frame than using one from a convertible.
