Figure I may as well try to improve on the leaking pinion seal as I'm putting things back together.
Have read many posts. seems about 75% say mark the nut, washer and yolk. remove the nut, washer, yolk and seal. Replace seal, install yolk in original location, washer in original location, locktight the nut threads and tighten to original location (some say add another 1/16" to the tighten).
About 25% say replace crush sleeve, etc.
Anyone here replace just the seal????
Thanks

Me! Once upon a time long ago. It worked too.

Did you pry the old seal out with a screwdriver? or is there something better?
thanks

to pull seals...my Dad had it (kinda looks like a small claw hammer), but an old screwdriver with a heated and bent end will work just fine.

Just an update.... everything went exactly as planned. No problem removing the seal, it popped right out once I got a small screwdriver under the flange edge.
Took about 15 minutes total.
Thanks to all for your comments.
