View Full Version : My shop is FINISHED outside!

I just got the brick laid on my shop addition yesterday, so it's finally finished outside except for lighting. I put an air outlet box outside, as well as 2 electrical outlet boxes. The brick matches the old shop very nicely.

I installed the 18x8 foot garage door by myself (with a little help from my girlfriend) last week, after some local jackass who wanted me to build him a frame renegged on a deal he made me. I was going to credit him for his labor on the garage door against a C4 conversion frame and even wrote up a contract for the frame because he said he wanted one. Then he didn't show up when he was supposed to install the door. I hate dealing with jerks like that.

I already have a 120,000 BTU heater that I need to install for next winter, and 11 fluorescent light fixtures that have FOUR 4-foot T5 bulbs each. That's 44 total bulbs and 1400 watts of total lighting indoors....not including the "cans" in the sitting area where I will have a couch and fridge. :D

Next step is to finish framing for the light fixtures and build the upstairs storage area (380 square feet) floor.

Sid, I never really thought about doing that, and I would rather have that room for storage inside. I will have a fenced area on that side of the shop, with a gate into it. I'm going to put air and an outlet over there too.

Thanks guys. I'm about 2/3 done with the wiring. Still have to run a service cable to the new panel from the old shop, which is the most difficult part of the electrical work. Now that it's warm (we hit the 80's this weekend) I'm going to shut off my gas and plumb it into the new shop, then get the heater hung.
