All 55-57 car bellhousings have the holes for the pivot ball bracket in the same place.

thanks rick l for the reply but do you know if you use a like a Camaro Lakewood bellhousing if the holes are the same location as a 55 bellhousing

Many of the Lakewood housings have the bracket. If it's there, it's in the right place. And if it's not there, well, it's just not there.

Camaros and Chevelles, etc. use a threaded boss on the block for the z-bar pivot. That threaded boss won't work on a 55-57.

So if it's there, it's the one for a 55-57.

I just got rid of that stuff and went with a hydraulic throw out bearing from McLeod. Works great feels great and no more linkage probs...just a thought

I've heard so many horror stories about the hydraulic throwout bearings I have decided not to use one. A friend of mine replaced three of them in just a few months, and how he says he has to replace it again....leaks. I don't know how the OEMs are able to keep them from leaking. And they're expensive.

I'm going with an external slave and a fork, with a hydraulic setup. That way if something goes wrong with the hydraulics, it's all outside the bellhousing.

Also, nice thing about a hydraulic cylinder, you can buy either a "push" or a "pull" cylinder and allows mounting in front of the clutch arm, or behind...

My 55 has a SFI Flakewood and the bracket was totally wrong but my moter is foward anyway so it was a good place to bolt an adaptor.
