Got a 56 2door with 454 30 over with 60 lbs compresson competion cam from comp cams from tennessee removed the 195 thermosat and the bypass hose, now without thermosat. should there be at restrictor in the place thermosat. live in minnesota, will be a while before can drive the 56 got alluminum radiator and spale fan. --------------------------Challenged

Don't get rid of the bypass hose.

Don't run a restrictor in place of a thermostat.

In Minnesota, I can't imagine running without a thermostat. Try a 180 or 160 degree thermostat.

But that probably won't fix it unless your thermostat was the problem. And it could have been.

Most overheating problems are insufficient airflow at idle. Shrouds and good fans usually fix that.

Of course a bad radiator or water pump can cause overheating too.

You might tell us what the driving conditions are when it overheats.

Sis it quit overheating when you removed the thermostat? Why did you remove the bypass hose? It has nothing to do with the overheating.
