Anyone had the same problem looking for decent small block headers, that will clear the stock clutch rods? I've seen the shorty headers but we don't know much about them. Geo.

I had some 1 5/8 hookers before, but they hung down pretty low

Seems like it should be easy to find a set of SBC headers that fit a tri5 with just about any combination of modifications. Surely there are lots of them made to clear clutch linkage, since they've been making them for over 40 years now.

What other modifications do you have? Do you want them to sit above the frame with the bellhousing mounts removed? Stock steering box? Lots of options.

take a look at patriot 3/4 length ones. had them on a 55 I had (327eng). fit good, but tranny was a 700r4.

I am running Summit headers(Hedman) on my 55--stock clutch linkage, stock steering gear box with no clearance problems whatsoever--been on there for 20 plus years.

Reborn55, What transmition are you using with your headers? We would like to run a saginaw 4 speed that we have. Sorry I forgot to mention that! Geo.

Oh, and then we would plan on connecting them to dual mufflers out back.

I am running a Muncie 4speed with Walker ultra flow stainless mufflers. I have had numerous tri-fives over the years--mostly 4speed cars and have run similar combinations on them

good luck
