I always thought the backside of the 56 hood bar looked ugly. It has part numbers and other lettering (Danchuk) on it, and it's not even smooth with sanding marks and die features. I know most people wouldn't think twice about it or even notice, but it's bugged me for a long time.

I took the hood off the other day and decided to do something about it. Also, as I pointed out on a different thread the studs are at an angle to the sheetmetal, so the nuts don't seat right.

Here's what it looks like "stock" (except for custom hood latch and brace):

4024 4025

I fabbed some covers for the backside:

4026 4027

And here's what they look like installed:

4028 4029

Which way looks better? :) I still have to get/make some tapered washers for the button head screws. Hope everything still fits.

The covers really gives the underside a nice clean look.

Some ball milled billet covers or some custom fabbed carbon fiber covers would be even cooler!

Actually I will probably paint them the color of the underside of the hood. I didn't want them to stand out, just to cover up the "ugliness".

They were really tricky to make. I thought I could make a radius bend, then a sharp bend and trim to fit. NOPE. It's curved. Spent all day on them :)

Honestly, never noticed any of this or cared, always put go fast first.

Adds weight to it lol!

Yeah I hope it doesn't screw up the balance of my hood hinges. They're just about perfect right now. ;)

Thought you liked options.

Some of you missed the point, adding stuff that was optional to vehicle when new. I was also talking daily drivers.

I think you missed the point, I was giving you a hard time. It was a "joke". :(

That improves the appearance a lot, nice fabrication job.
