I should have posted this long ago

So here it is , A basic 55 chevy

I have it since 1992

Just started working on it

It will be a simple build

The frame is stock one

Spring pockets have been installed to move springs even with frame rails

Tubular A frames

Side motor mounts

Power steering

Ford 9" Rear end with disc Brakes

454 Big Block Chevy

Muncie 4 speed

I Don't Care that its not going to be a show car , don't care that it doesn't have vette front and vette rear End

The way it going to be built makes me happy and that's all that matters

Thanks Sid

Sounds very familiar to how my 55 is put together, with some variations, I used a 56 inch wide, drum brake Dana 60 in rear. What width rear are you using.

With so many first gen Camaros painted that way with cowl hoods how can you tell from that picture.

Keep the updates coming Sid. Looks like a good solid car to start with. Are you going to keep the modified rear wheel openings or put them back to the original shape? For sure easier to get the rear tires on and off the way they are now.

Well its taking forever , I could not get the motor to clear so I cut the firewall and used a bigger one
The rear end is in , Just need now to install the mini tubs and do other stuff to it :(

Good progress, but it never ends. Seems like the more you do, the more there is left to do.

Now THAT is a real hot rodder's approach~! :) If the engine won't fit, then make the space larger and get an even larger engine! :)

I thought my 396 with 2x4 on a tunnel ram filled the hole. I was wrong.

I like the Mickeys on the rear! ;) Did you have wide wheels made for the wider tires, but also so you can run stock caps or covers?

hello Gary,

No bought them from Summit but they where back order for 18 Weeks , They have caps that mount inside instead of the out side . Guess I did the stupid and order the wrong ones

here is what it said ,

U.S. Wheel's beginnings go back to the early 60's with the family owned metal stamping facility. In the 80' we branched off with a small back alley shop and began manufacturing completed steel wheels. Now that we're entering the 21st century we have steadily and consistently grown to become one of the leading suppliers of two piece steel wheels in the country combining quality, strength and style with affordability. Unlike many aluminum wheel manufacturers that offer a steel wheel line only as a compliment to their aluminum wheels, our focus is on steel wheels - all types of steel wheels. We have a complete line of both painted and chrome plated aftermarket wheels.

As the president of the I hate Dakota Digital Dash Club I have to say I like the above dash. Very tastefully done.

Sid's new instrument cluster appears to be the Classic Instruments BelEra III model, but maybe I'm wrong? Hopefully Sid will tell us (he may have had them modify it for his purposes?)...?

Its time for mufflers, so my guy working on the 55 say these are go mufflers to go with , Spintech Mufflers so That's what I ordered . I decided to order Stainless Steel ones . Took 3 Months to get and when I pulled it out of the box I thought what the hell . I was in Local 16 Sheet metal union for my first 20 years of having a job out of high school . We would have never left a stainless part raw looking like this . what do you think ?

Add your time for polishing them...

Unless you're building a trophy winning showcar, they will just be under there getting dirty and grimy anyway.

I go with Wagoncrazy on this one, if you are going to drive it.

I'm not a welder, or a welder's son, but all those squiggly, non-joint related weld(?) tracks mystify me. I wonder why all those miscellaneous tracks came to be there?
The joint in the casing over near the inlet looks like the weld is pretty thin and incomplete, and doesn't seem to fill the joint (zoom in on that area, and see if you see what I am seeing).
