Bought new wood for my '57 build. Chose pine. Oak was on it. Tried to restore but was disappointed in the results.

I don't see anything on this topic.

I want to "stain" this wood "natural". Light stain.

Would really appreciate advice on what I should use for the finish and sealing it. I've found that Sikkens stain is great for my log house. Cover with simple polyurethane? Total Wood Protection (TWP) any good.

Your ideas / experiences welcome.

Thanks in advance.

The problem you are going to have with any polyurethane is lack of UV protection. I am refinishing a dash on my 34 Ford and I am using a two step process, first fill with epoxy and then top coat with 2K clear coat for the UV protection.
