9665Pretty much finished the forward body mounts that some genius removed and scrapped from the 55 body shell I have. Finding out that part by itself is not available, and I didn't want to carve the ones off my other 55, end up with 2 cars without body mounts, and end up making my own. It took me like 4 months to come up with a plan, and then 3 more working on it when I could. I wanted them to be a strong mount since it is designed to transfer front frame movement into the stiff firewall/cowl area. So I came up with this trying to use up steel I had laying around to try and puzzle together 28 pieces of steel. Bought a couple of dimple dies for fun and punched 14 holes. Used up some roll-cage gussets I've had for like 30 years. The upright 90 degree channels were cut out of 1 inch square tubing with a my plasma that I also had to buy for the project. Material $20. Tools $2000.

A long story, but my goal is to build it to drive it like I stole it first, before I go for pretty. Maybe a new category, "Mouse Rod". My next step is to try and find a good body guy to prep/straighten/prime it because I don't have the time/energy to do it. Not looking good so far. It's going to be 2 tone primer before color to keep it simple like a hot rod.

Yes, it does look good! and 'good' takes time! that's a great project; a cheap project that results in your shop having $2000 of MORE TOOLS.. :)
