I've been using the Raptor Bed liner for a while now. The tintable is not clear like a quart of cleat paint. It is milky. I believe this is due to the fact that it has a flattening agent in it. I...
A couple of tricks I have learned. Air blower works well, but the powder goes everywhere. I use a shop vac and a nylon brush end to vac the sandpaper. Another thing that works well is a cheap piece...
I am not a fan of wet sanding primers PERIOD. Too much is uncontrollable when water is used around iron. I dry sand everything except color sanding paint and clear. Why ask for trouble when you don't...
If not, I'm the guy Rick referenced. 36 years of restoration on any part of a 55-57 Chevy. Over a million pcs of stainless trim restored...or so it seams....:-)

Really nice work Robert. I only have one observation: Why does the lower flange lip face the front. I would think this will just be a place to catch dirt etc. I know it is easy to make it that way so...
Robert, The 55's are just a bit longer on the rear lower where the lower or last splash pan is spot welded. You can just add about 1 inch of new metal to the repros and they will work just fine. The...
Robert, the seal you show in your fingers is just part of the whole seal. GM used a slow expanding foam. They laid it in the channel and then installed the skin. No two are the same for this reason....
Forgive me for askin' this. But is the epoxy a hybrid? I have used several epoxy materials and there is not enough solids in them to build and block. I have even used a Valspar product that is a...
Be VERY careful Robert......Before you know it you will have a long list of guys wanting you to build them one too. BTW Nice work!
Mikey
If you need another factory hinge just ask I got plenty and they will all fit the dash and lid.
Mikey
I like it Robert. As you know I also lengthened my glove box to remove the ash tray. Looks like you will now need to lengthen the hinge and the dash mounting for the lengthened hinge also......it...
Get some of that "chrome" paint.......LLLLLLOOOOOLLLLL:D
I figured they were painted with some natural looking paint. But they still look odd compared to all the rest of the "polished and shinnnny" parts. Maybe you should have looked into having them done...
I agree with Mike and Robert! But....but.....but C'mon man....what's up with those ball joints. Can't ya do something better with them, they just are too.......well STOCK RAW METAL LOOKING. :)

The hardtop door front post stainless trim is notched for the flippers to fold down into. The metal post is also made to accept this. The front outer section of metal is all that is different. You...
The basic door is the same. The top 5 inches of the metal vent post is different. If you have "true" convertible doors now. You can drill out a few spot welds, and cut the outer section off and then...
Me thinks you will get more work done if you hook up the air to that sander........
Just when ya think the project is looking good, then ya have to turn it upside down and all the hidden areas...
Nicely done Robert.
FYI be careful using those larger nuts. Because the tailgate has a curve on 2 dimensions you can "spike" the metal around them.......seen it done on lots of side trim using...
Make sure you leave those gaps in the lip. This is where the center bumper bracket(s) lines up. If the bumper is lifted(with a jack of just a bump) the bracket will hit rubber, not metal, and not...
I can't believe you are wasting that epoxy like that. Next time only put it where ya need it.......LOL
Brackets came today. Thanks
Mikey
They sell this as a replacement Robert. I may be better to remove the old one and then change the depth of the drain opening,on a new one. I then drill holes in the back of the support and plug weld...
Or not.....
Sooooo get on it!!! Thanks Robert!!!
Mikey
Many here may know me, i'm not a new guy around these trifive Chevys. Just new to this group.
