Yes it will work on any 55 or 56 4-door sedan, 2-door sedan or wagon frame. The 2D hardtops have an extra body mount between the hump and the center of the door that can be removed and then it's essentially the same. 4DHT frames have the center outboard body mount in a different position.

First of all Richinsd, WELCOME ABOARD! As stated, for the most part the 55-56 frame share, specific to body mounting areas, the same locations. The 57 also shares the same body location mounting points and as pointed out, the front bumper horns are quite different to the point of physically and visually different. Many other subtle differences between the three years are present also. Within the content of this site, there exist a nice library of documents to include drawings from General Motors showing almost every bolt hole one might need to use and their exact location relative to established datum's. For your continued needs, here is the main link: http://www.trifivechevys.com/forumdi...cument-Library and to continue, the link for the "Assembly Manuals": http://www.trifivechevys.com/showthr...ly-Manuals-PDF and your 55's Index is here: http://www.trifivechevys.com/manuals...ssemblyManual/ and the FRAME CHECKING sheet: http://www.trifivechevys.com/manuals...anual/2-15.gif shows the physicality of the frame with many of the locations you may need in the future. In Section 1, Body Instructions (see index) Sheets 16 through sheet 28 give more detail specific to each mount, its location and other data you may need.

One thing I've noticed about 55 frames is the 2-piece ones seem to have more rivets in them along the frame rails. The rivets hold "baffles" inside the frame that I believe aided construction. There are also two slightly different kinds of 2-piece frames. One kind has welds at the rear corners and a few other places instead of rivets. The front frame horns are slightly different too.

Also, there are "seamless" frames that are constructed out of mandrel bent tubing instead of two c-sections welded together. These are sometimes erroneously called "California" frames. They look a lot nicer with a lot fewer tooling holes, no welds along the rails, but are functionally the same. Based on my experience with them I think they were used on around 20-25% of the cars built, and were used on all models except convertibles which all used 2-piece frames.
