need starter for 265 v8 with factory hydramatic transmission
I cant find a starter for a 1957 283 v8 with a factory hydramatic transmission.???????? Help!

You might have to pull the starter body off one & put your starter nose on it if possible. I've a car that one starter fits it & it only & that is what I have to do & re-bush the starter shaft from time to time.

I would but I don't even have a starter yet to do that to. My truck was not complete when I bought it. Any numbers on your starter?

My starter is for a 427 big block turbo 400. And none of the Chevy dealerships can match the starter up with anything. The car was build during a "strike" and the executives flooded the assembly floor back in the day & built some cars. Think God only knows what that turbo 400 came from...it has a flat spot that requires a corresponding flat spot on the starter snout. Has been rebuilt 2 times by myself already.
