This is what I started Sat morning with. I sanded ground and hammered for hours. My mind began to wonder (it does that a lot). What did the car look like that this frame came from? What was the family like that owned this car first? Last? I came across smells as I powered through old grease that reminded me of being a kid and the same smell from our local Sunoco gas station. I found a dent on the bottom that looked like the old church key can opener made. What could the story be on that one? We will never know Im sure. Anyway Im off this morning to Paint this frame that ate my whole Saturday. I'll post pictures of the finished painted foundation. Probably very late tonight! Danny

Hey Danny, looks nice. Are you missing the rear brace on your frame, or is that an optical illusion?56 Nomad, Ramjet 502, Viper 6-speed T56, C4 Corvette front and rear suspension

It's missing. That's why the guy bought the frame I got it from. He needed that one crossmember. I was going to use the one from the old frame but it's really not in good enough shape. It's been welded and it's thin in places. So I'm looking for a new one. If all else fails, I'll make a new one.Comment

Hey Danny, I have replaced rear crossmembers on a few frames. I had some new ones made, but they're not full width. We cut them inboard of the frame rails and splice them in whenever they're damaged. I have a complete one that I cut off of a 2-piece frame that's in good condition if you want it. It's the type that's riveted in, not welded in, so I don't know how well it will work. It may cost more to ship than to just make a new one. Let me know if you're interested.
On the other hand, they're not that hard to straighten if your old one isn't too badly damaged. I've straightened some pretty bad ones.....the one in the pics below was damaged in shipment when I got it. A little "body work" and it turned out good as new.
