White 55 finally on the road after 24 years

After 24 years apart, my 55 is finally back on the road. I've owned this car for 39 years and drove it to high school. It was good to finally get to drive it again, with my 18 year old son beside me. More pics in my album. It was a good weekend.

Tough Looking. Do you like the look of the roll bar in a hard top? I have thought about it, but wasn't sure how it would look.

Being black, I don't really notice the roll bar. I think if it was any other color it might be distracting to the eye. What is that old adage? If you want it to disappear, paint it black.

Olky55, very nice '55 and I like the all-white paint too. Seems like lots of us have been "married" to our cars for decades. I've owned my Nomad since 1973....40 years now. And it's still not driveable. I've gone through 2 marriages in that time....cars are easier to deal with than women. LOL!

We painted it white in 1976, because I hadn't seen another around at the time. I've always liked the way it looks with all of the chrome, but I may be partial. I tell everyone that around that time two-tone cars were considered "old man's" cars. I guess it was because all of the hot rods and drag cars had been repainted to a single color. It was also right after the factory muscle car era. So, that probably had something to do with it. I guess I'm an old man now, but I still stuck with the single color.
