    56 parts

It seems like 56 repop parts are the most scarce. It's a good thing some of the parts are common across all 3 years.

I'd like to see them make 56 hoods, fenders, and smoothie bumpers. These are all available for 55 and 57, but for some reason they haven't made them for 56s. The 56 models are getting more and more popular these days. Seems like the repop companies are making some parts for them, but it's the ones that aren't that hard to find in some cases. Good hoods and fenders are getting scarce. Why they tooled up a one-piece 56 bumper before they did a smoothie is beyond me.

How about quarter panels for all 56's including Nomad's and tailgates MY GOD people ask telephone numbers for junk. At this point I would even settle for fiberglass if it was offered.

Busted, they do repop Nomad tailgate skins, but not the inner structure. The market for Nomad parts is pretty small, in comparison to the other cars.

It seems like things come out for the 57 first, I have always liked 56 and 55 better.

Just posted a question somewhere on this forum about finding a drag link for 56 with power steering. Ecklers and Classic Industries had them last month but none available now. Can I just add bushing and new pitman and idler arm to tighten up the steering? John - StorageKing95

I've heard that the 56 was the step child to the 55 and 57 and not as popular and that's why they aren't making as many parts but from what I have seen I would have to believe that there must be some truth to this. as far as the drag link thing I would install new bushings in the idler arm and adjust the adjustable links unless the tension springs are broken, don't remember if the steering has the tension springs or not.

That would be the "Red Headed step child" mech393.

I'm originally from New Zealand now living in Australia and it would be fair to say that of all the tri fives in N.Z. (and there is plenty) 90% would be 56's. I remember when I was about 16 or so I went with a mate to buy a car ( 1964 EH Holden) and when the seller opened his garage door there was a harbor blue and white 56 Bel Air parked beside the Holden. That was it for me, I was hooked, couldn't take my eyes off it. Took a long time but I finally got one.

There is a guy who is in his late 70's living a couple of suburbs away from me who has three 55 4 doors, 2 are at one with the earth and one is not far off and one 56 4 door half cut. The 56 complete front is sitting on the ground and has been for at least 20 yrs that I know of. He wont sell me one part off that car, says he is going to build it into an El Camino, good luck on finding a wagon that's had a frontal and been written off.

Sorry, got on a bit of a rant then. All good now.

    Regards Andrew.
