No, he has a fleet of about 20, I haven't touched this one before. Hopefully the rest can stay in one piece for awhile..

Last week's haul. One of my buddy's has a father retired from the auto body field, he was also big into van customizing a few decades ago. Seems his dad was ready to sell some tools, I was happy to extend their life into the next phase. The long handled hammer in the front is a "pecker", used for bumping out dings. I've been working on cleaning up years of use, most had some form of nicks/cuts on the hammer faces, which will transfer to your work piece if they aren't smoothed out. The last picture shows the before and after on the comma dolly.
Are those stainless steel? (to get them that shiney?)
1957 Nomad- LS1/T56 on C4 chassis
1959 Fleetside Apache 1/2 ton, shortbed, big window, 327ci.
IIRC they are all drop forged steel. Let them get damp, they will rust in a minute. The buffer stands I use on stainless trim helps them get shiny.
You'd probably do a few of mine for $1.98 apiece, right?
Send them on up!
New apprentice starting this Tuesday night, just in time for all the yellow
parts we'll be fixing!
Some of our efforts this past
week...
CAD used for console ideas...
Test
fit for arm rest height and shifter location..
.
I went through all the same stuff for my console design. It's not something you think about when you drive a car, but the height and other ergonomic factors are really important. Looking good, and can't wait to see the progress on it.

Well another distraction, Never know what you see pull into the shop. Got a phone call earlier this week to look at a damaged trailer...
Apparently someone that had borrowed this for an event did not understand the operation of a Bulldog coupler. Near as we can tell, the split coupler was never compressed when the collar was moved forward, so it rested against it. With a bit more force they were able to insert the safety pin, and the first bump started the chain of events.
Looks like the did some plowing in the grassy area of our local county fair...
....just before making contact with the back of the tow vehicle..
Inside the operating room on Tuesday night, Jake and I pulled off the carnage of exterior shell... The corner upright had been broken clean off its welds..
....as well as sporting a nice bow...
Since we had the correct size square tubing in stock, we cut a piece to length, welded in place, then Jake abraded with the DA and painted with some SPI epoxy primer.
The wiring harness also took a beating, we picked up a new harness from TSC and will get that installed tonight, and see if we can get the outer skin bent and installed..
Luckily nothing bent behind or beside the seams. Easy fix.....for you.
