The color on the car almost seems closer to the Sierra Gold than it does "orange". I thought it was maybe GM's Sunburst Orange but I'm not so sure.

I think this is stock Sierra Gold:

Here's GM Sunburst Orange, but I've seen 2 versions of it and perhaps 3 paint codes. One is a little more brownish.

I could not agree with you more, I had this discussion yesterday when I brought this auction up on moms computer. My Dad bought a new 56 BA and 58 Impala both sierra gold. She thought it was a new color for 56, but was not certain. We both agreed this car is not orange. I had some touch up paint mixed for my 56 and the paint stores computer chose a Mercedes base.

A lot of guys use "snipers" to bid for them at the last minute...I do that myself so nobody sees that I'm interested. I have been able to buy lots of stuff cheap that way

I believe you will see a spike in bids at the end.

And probably a 50-100% premium because of who owned it.

I agree with about a 50% premium. The car is really probably worth around $60-70K if a regular guy owned it. You couldn't build it for that price.

Personally I think this car is worth more than the Two Lane Blacktop gasser.

A whole lot more than the 2 lane gasser unless you like paying a premium for a "name" gasser build. I'd rather pay a premium for a nicer build than any gasser, but that's just me. I don't know why one would want a "nice" gasser. That's why I didn't understand the Woody's build of a gasser with a repro body. (Unless that's all their repro bodies are good for.)

I agree with you Rick. This gasser was at the Lone Star convention a few years ago. Beautiful car, just not my style.
