    Cool original to 1956 belair?

Have a small block 265ci, I think numbers on block# 3703524 and E118. Would this be an oem for 56? Thanks Geo.

524 casting should be for a 1955, does it have an oil filter?
    991 casting is 1956

Date code E118 doesn't compute, as that would be for a year ending in 8.

I guess it could be from a short block bought at the parts dept.

The E118 is a casting not a stamp? If so, then it's a replacement 265 second design with oil filter. Cast in 1958. If you're trying to be numbers correct then it's not correct for a 56.
    991 is the 1956 265 block casting.

Thanks guys. I think it still was a good deal with 65000 miles for: $650. At least we only have to put freeze plugs and a fresh water pump on it. Would like to be able to get the 56 belair to shows. Having fun is what it's about right?
