Question 1957 210 Conversion From Generator to Alternator

Ok, I have searched high and low for the correct instructions on how to convert my '57 from generator to alternator. The wiring diagrams I'm finding are not accurate as far as showing or saying what happens to the ballast resistor. My '57 has a wire for the wiper motor coming off of the resistor (which is not shown on any diagrams). The rest of the connections are a no-brainer. Anyone have experience with this?

    Welcome to the site!

The ballast resistor is not affected when you convert from generator to alternator. So this area does not change including the connection for the wiper motor.

The ballast resistor might be eliminated if you change from a stock type points distributor to an electronic one. But whether you do that depends on what electronic ignition you choose. You would need to follow the instructions for whatever ignition you use.

    Hope this helps.
