I think having the tip about flush with the lip on the bottom of the bumper would look great.

I'm not sure your idea was bad, but personally I wouldn't go through the bumper, but just cut the bumper out some. This ram has a bigger bumper, but it also has a bigger exhaust tip.
With a different exhaust tip you wouldn't have to cut so much out of the bumper and get the exhaust further out from the bumper.
My 55 is almost the same as your Nomad. Good enough for the girls I go out with, my 56 has era correct PP tips, but its a traditional car. Bumper cutouts /valances are OK if factory done.
Lee, what I was considering doing is just like the Ram truck. My exhaust is 3" and I think it's the same as what's on the truck unless they used larger tips. Since my pipes are inboard of the frame rails, I think they would have been closer together than on the truck. Here's a pic that a guy (Awsum55 from Kansas) photoshopped for me to show about what they would look like. I gave him locations and sizes so it's close.

Here's one he did with oval tips.

The connector I ordered came today, and it's obviously the WRONG ONE. I got ahold of the eBay seller and told him to send me the correct connector or a refund. The bag says S-574 but it doesn't look anything like this one except that it has 3 contacts :

Turns out this S-574 connector is used on a lot of sensors on GM and Dodge vehicles. Still not sure if it will work but I think it will. Here's one of the sensors it's supposed to fit, a MAP sensor from a 2000-02 Dodge Ram. RockAuto sells them and it looks a lot like my speedo sensor.

Call Bill Hillock at BP Automotive. He's a very helpful guy. He's made me several wire harness, adapter pigtails, and sold me connectors. He stocks all common connectors and ships quick.
I vote for the oval tips.
Guys, I said at the beginning of this discussion that I've made a decision not to cut the bumper . I just showed some ideas I looked at before. At this point I think I'd rather move forward and get the bumper plated and the exhaust tips done. I think it looks nice without the exhaust cut into it.
Here's what I'm thinking about doing...opinions welcome . I think I'll go 1/2" past the bumper.......

This pic shows the turndown cut at a slight angle like the pics I showed above, except it's cut a little further down the bend. I mocked it up with tape.

This one is at 1/2" too but cut straight across perpendicular to the pipe. I may try it this way and see if I like it, then cut it like it is above if I don't want the hole in the end to show as much.

Needs to be cut at a much steeper angle so not as much is hanging down. Should be able to cut it so only like a 1/2 in is hanging down at the bend.
