    rear LEDs

    Hello Guys,

I'm currently running plain ol' 1157's bulbs and would like to possibly upgrade to LED brake lights in my 56 Bel Air (rear ONLY). I see that Danchuk has LED bulbs in a 1157 version for around $10 or $15ea, but i'm not so sure this is what i need, as their website does NOT list much details, regarding brightness.

    What would you recommend?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

I think you can buy LED bulbs now from Autozone, O'Reilleys, and lots of other places.

You can buy them for as low as a few cents each on eBay from overseas suppliers or $2-3 each from US suppliers.

Also keep in mind that you may have to change your flasher to an electronic one because the LEDs might not draw enough current to make the old bimetal type of flasher work.

    Thanks Cnut,

Any idea how the led bulbs (like you referenced) compare to the standard 1157 bulb? I would also like to know how this might compare to a led assembly?? such as one from Shiny-Hiney w/rapid fire?

I know...... I get what i pay for with just the 1157 bulbs, but is that $ 80 SH assembly + $25 rapid fire REALLY that much brighter and better?
