    Exclamation Brake light s

I have 57 bel air with adjustable mechanical brake light switch. The mechanic has adjusted this on 3 different occasions. The problem is the lights most of the time do not go out when the brake pedal is released. I need help.

It is either not adjusted right or you need a new switch.

It's possible that your brake pedal return spring is missing or broken, causing the pedal to not return to the top. It's up at the brake pivot. It looks like this and is available from tri5 part suppliers:

56 Nomad, Ramjet 502, Viper 6-speed T56, C4 Corvette front and rear suspension

    Other vehicles:

    56 Chevy 2-door BelAir sedan
    56 Chevy 210 4-door sedan
    57 Chevy 210 4-door sedan
    1962 327/340HP Corvette
    1961 Willys CJ3B Jeep

2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Duramax
    2019 GMC Sierra Denali Duramax

if that return spring is weak or there's some sticking at the pivot points and the pedal lays on the switch I would look at that before throwing parts at it.
