    Replacement 1957 Chevy gas tank

I'm looking for a quality 1957 Chevy gas tank to replace my original one. There are many companies selling 57 gas tank but how do you tell the good quality from the inferior quality gas tanks and has anyone been satisfied with a gas tank that they have purchased? Let me know and thank you.

    Welcome to the site Dan!

Most of the reputable suppliers sell a replacement tank made by a Canadian company called Spectra. It is a quality tank, and it has a bright galvanized finish which is very durable. This tank is also quite reasonably priced, but prices do vary a lot, so shop around.

A lot of places don't say who made the tanks they offer in their catalogs and ads - so ask if in doubt.

The Spectra is the one to buy if you are looking for stock. RockAuto has it, Amazon for 119 bucks, and numerous other places. Take a look at your old tank as there are a couple of corner configurations to choose from.

You probably need the Spectra GM28D.

Thanks for the info. I just order the GM28D and also a sending unit on Amazon. It was $190.00 total which I'm happy with. Money saved for the next project on the car. Thanks again.
