headlight switch, brake switch
The stop brake light switch on my 55 does not work. The 2 wires leads are not there. I'm installing a new one. I found a white wire coming out of the steering column that has been disconnected. I think it is goes to one side of switch. Looking at a electrical diagram does the other wire go to the light switch? What is the easy way to get to the switch? I know there is a spring button that release the switch shaft. But I can barely get my hand up in there.

That white wire is power to the brake switch.
There should be a terminal on the headlight switch that it should connect to. But it could come from any +12V power source, it's not absolutely necessary to connect it to the headlight switch unless you want an authentic restoration.

I think the brake lights get power from the headlight switch so there is always power to them, not just when the ignition switch is on. Also the headlight switch is not fused, It has a built in circuit breaker so won't lose your brake lights due to a blown fuse.
