    Ready for paint.

    Finally!!!

    Will be using PPG base/clear

One thing I'm confused about is color sanding. I've read where some sand the paint and some only sand the clear. Which is correct?

Don't sand the base! Only the clear. The only reason to sand the base is if you have to fix a mistake and are going to re-spray.

Some sand the color and then sand the clear when using single stage and clear, but as mentioned, not with base clear.

Now I'm really confused. What's the difference between single stage and base? I thought single stage when sprayed is shinny and base is not that's why one needs clear and one dose not.

    Thanks Robert!

You are correct. You usually don't clear single stage paint.

The biggest effect of sanding metallic paint, whether it's single stage or base, will be that you're knocking the tops off the metallic particles - this will change the look and may make it "splotchy".
