Do you have an original core? The ones I've had rechromed come out very nice. I don't think it's a part that's too difficult to rechrome as long as it isn't cracked.
Good luck these were all but impossible to find in the early 70s when the junkyards were full of these cars. They were either pitted or cracked in the center.
