    56 chevy truck door locks

Does anybody know WHY Chevy only put the door unlock function on the passenger side and not the driver's side? I'm sure there was a logical explanation at the the time of design, but beats the hell out of me as to why they would not put it on both sides.

You were supposed to lock the drivers door from the inside, then slide across the seat and get out the passenger door and lock it with key from outside. That way you weren't opening the door into the traffic and stepping out and getting hit by the oncoming traffic...... A lot of the parking, in town, back in those days was parallel parking. That's the story I heard, and it sounds good? I switched the locks, on my pickup, and reach across and lock the passenger side, then get out and lock the drivers door with key from outside. I rarely parallel park these days.

How would you lock the door from the inside when there are no door locks visible?

Some older cars 'locked' by pushing the door opening level *forward*... This feature might have been on the '57 Plymouth I learned to drive on...?
