    1957 Chevy Hard to Shift

Hi guys, i went to take my 57 out of the garage this past weekend, and noticed that the shifter is really tight, and hard to shift. Its is a column shift, all original. Automatic trans by the way. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it may be? Could it be in the column? It was fine when i put it in there a few weeks ago. Thanks Guys!

You could disconnect the linkage between the column and the tranny to isolate the problem.

So, if i disconnect the linkage between the column and trans and it is still hard to shift the problem would be somewhere in the column?

It could be the old gummed up grease in the cold weather causing it?

Gonna check it out as soon as i get a chance, hopefully this weekend. I believe it may be the rubber bushings and springs in the column. They are original, so hopefully thats all it is.
