Chevy Adapter Plate For A 6 Cylinder W/Powerglide

I have an adapter plate (GM Part#3836601) that fits between a Chevy 6 cylinder with a powerglide transmission. Internet search shows it fits 55-57 Corvettes and other 1950-1957 models. Excellent condition with only surface rust and no visible cracks. $200.00 (Shipping not included). E mail me at pattons55@yahoo.com for my cell number and pictures. Thanks JP

If you were giving this away, there would be very few takers if they had to pay the freight to get it shipped. I hope selling this was not the only reason you joined here.

Welcome to the site Pat. A guy restoring a 6-cylinder 55-57 Corvette to original condition might need that rare part. $200 is a good price...I just looked and saw one on eBay listed for $325. You could probably ship it for $30 or less but I'm sure you know that .

Do you have any tri5s of your own?

If we're talking about the six cylinder to PG adapter, the LAST Corvettes to be built with a 6-cyl were 1955 models (and NOT very many of those, and possibly even fewer with the PG, as the 3-spd manual was introduced in '55 also). The 6-cyl was the standard (and only engine) in Corvettes and they all had PG's behind them for the '53 and '54 Corvettes. In 1955, the V8 was introduced but a *few* were built with the 6-cylinder.

Good point, I should have caught that one.

Looks like you're right Bamanomad. The eBay ad I found says it's for 53-55 Corvettes. That makes it a rare, probably valuable part for the right car.

What would make that particular adapter different from a 6 cylinder/Powerglide car rather than a Corvette? This is not an uncommon part at all for a car.

I think it would be the same as for a passenger car with 6-cyl and PG (and yes, that is much more common to find, as most or many, passenger cars which came with 6-cyl and PG have probably been converted to V8's by now... ) Surviving Corvettes of the '53-54 vintage probably still have their born with parts...

Nope. I joined some time ago, but haven't been active. I originally joined due to the purchase of a '57 Chevy 6100 truck I bought. Since then I have found Stovebolt.com for info. My Yahoo account got hacked and I had to change e mail addresses and start over with a new account on TriFive ( and other sites). My original member number was #31448. Sorry if I offended you. JP

I stand corrected on the years that this fits Corvettes. Thanks JP
