I'm nowhere near his badassery..
It's mostly because I have some concerns about how my body guy can weld a patched in hardtop quarter on a sedan, etc. I was thinking, if he could possibly get a good fit, and tack in place with a MIG, I could try and gas weld and planish the rest. The guy he had working for him quit, so now I'm worried.

If you want it gas welded or tig welded or??? and your body man can't accommodate, perhaps you have the wrong bodyman. The "if he could possibly get a good fit" is another area in need of assurance. swing and a miss, strike two?

I've never tried to do any oxy/acy welding before, but just playing around with my Cobra torch, I'm really liking it. I cut 6 pieces of 17 gauge sheet metal with the torch, and fusion welded them back together using no filler rod.

Cool. I assume, you have welded other pieces together with this unit have cut them apart to see if it gets to the root of the weld joint?
