The color I decided on is pretty yellow compared to white. Initially I didn't want yellow in it but I think it needs it. You can see the yellow or "creamy" color in the pic taken out of direct sunlight, if your computer monitor is right. I find that my computer pics aren't as yellow as my Iphone pics. Sometimes the color I chose looks "frosty" due to the pearls in it, but other times it looks more tan. Here it is outdoors in the evening with no lighting.

I've seen other 56s with similar primary color to yours that had a nice cream color to complement. Keep looking. You can always do pearl over a non-metallic base, may take some experimentation.
I've looked for months....I'm done looking and the color above is what I picked. Hope it turns out good.

I don't have any idea on the benefit of flex additive in the bedliner. My tendency would be to think the bedliner by itself is sufficient.
My plan is to spay the bedliner, THEN spray the base/clear OVER it. I was thinking about using the flex additive in the clear. I think without it it may chip easily in the wheelwells.

It seems to me like painting over bed liner defeats the purpose of using bed liner. It will probably chip off of that like anything else painted, and much harder to repair. The plastic bumper covers on every car I've had sure chip easy, and rock chips on the front of a car are much worse looking than wheel well chips.

My purpose for doing it is to achieve a better color match to the body where the wheelwell is visible. It also adds some texture to the wheelwell surfaces. I could use some other material to get the texture, but I already have the bedliner and it's urethane. I don't think adhesion is a problem if I coat it within about a day. I doubt the BC/CC will chip any easier over the bedliner than it would if it was applied directly to the wheelwell pieces, or if I applied it over some sort of body schutz.

I haven't decided yet what I'll do and I'm just tossing out potential ideas for that area. Maybe the bedliner alone will be fine.

I can't believe 18 months have gone by and the car still isn't painted. There sure were a lot more details to take care of than I though there were, and I've spent months priming and blocking.

We're scheduled for paint the week of the 23rd of September right after I get back from my CO elk bowhunt. I didn't want to get started and not be able to finish it at once so I worked it into Matt's schedule in a couple of weeks.

When I put O&W remover on the body, everything looks good except I noticed some very minor distortion on both quarters above the wheelwells. Then it occurred to me that I blocked the body with the wheelhouse seals installed and I removed them to spray the bedliner. They apparently provide some slight pressure which actually changes the reflections a little. So today I re-installed them and the quarters look a lot better but I'm still going to do a little blocking with the rigid board to make sure they're as flat as I can get them. You really have to get at a low angle to see anything at all.

The paint is on its way and should be here any day....hopefully before I leave. I got 2 quarts of base and 1 quart of midcoat for the back of the car. I ordered 2 more gallons of PP DBU2021 clear and hardener so now I have 3 gallons in case we need that much. Matt though 2 gallons of clear would be enough but I said the heck with it. Also have more reducer ordered so we should have plenty of that (5 gallons!) and the other material. Bill's prices seem to have gone up quite a bit so I'm glad I'm done buying paint!! :O

I just got back from elk hunting....empty-handed. We got run out of our area by a forest fire that's now consumed over 3000 acres. It actually started about 1/2 mile from our camp the night we arrived and we were evacuated the next day. There was another one of 13000 acres not far away that filled the entire area and miles away with smoke. It really screwed up the hunting. Plus all the other displaced hunters ended up causing a lot of crowding.

I got home and all of the rest of my paint materials are here. So this week we start painting, unless Matt has had something happen. I need a couple of days to get organized and get a trailer, then it's all going to his shop. Hopefully we'll be spraying by Wednesday.

I'll be taking a ton of pics Paul as this is another major milestone for me. I'll be in the paint booth with Matt. Not sure what order we're going to paint everything, but I'm sure he's been thinking about it. The big challenge is that you have to clear everything within 24 hours of shooting the basecoat.

Well, not surprisingly the paint has been delayed. I called Matt and he's struggling with trying to finish a Shelby for a customer, and another car that's close to completion. The engine builder screwed up on the Shelby and they had to pull it three times. It's on the dyno today and he needs to clean it up and finish a few details.

So the bottom line is we've slipped 2 weeks and plan to start the week of October 8.
