Sorry to hear of the delay. I've heard the best things come to those who wait, or something like that.

You want it done right...not rushed. So let him finish the other cars ahead of you and then get yours in when all variables are in alignment. don't let him drink the night before he sprays either.

You've been in this project for 8+ years, what's a couple more weeks? Use that time to look over your sheet metal one more time.
Dave, from the old neighborhood in Jersey!
Here's all the paint materials. Holy crap!

Man that's crazy!!! I remember painting my '55 in the mid '80's. It took 1 gallon of RM Ditzler Lacquer Primer, 1 gallon of RM Ditzler Lacquer Paint ('67 Corvette Rally Red) and 2 gallons of Lacquer Thinner!! It was $120 and I thought that was expensive!!! I can't imagine what your pile cost!!!
Troy, there are 4 colors of base...white, orange, gray and the tan. The white is for under the orange and tan. The tan has a midcoat. That's all the stuff on the left. The local PPG store was charging $1168 a gallon for the orange three years ago, probably close to $1500 today. I got it from Bill in NY for around $500/gal. The tan just cost me $78 a quart and midcoat was $100 from Bill ($167 each quart locally) which wasn't that bad but it's still 3 quarts with the midcoat. There's 3 kinds of clear, gloss clear, flat clear, and semi-gloss clear. Matt mixes the flat and semi-gloss to get a "matte" clear. The gloss and flat have their own hardeners. Those are all in the middle. The non-gloss clears and activator were $760. Gloss clear with activator are $360 per gallon from Bill...3 gallons. On the right is the reducers and cleaner which are the cheapest per gallon, but still $75 each. Add shipping, but no tax onto all of that. And that doesn't count all the primers and the material I've used on the frame. I'm no longer wondering why paint jobs cost $10-25K.
I know you can buy cheaper paints, like PPG's Omni and other brands, but I decided I'm not skimping at this point.

Can't wait to see the pic of the empty paint cans, and the car sprayed in final colors. Stay with it..to use a football analogy: you're on 1st down at the 5 yard line after a 95 yard gain (1 yard at a time). You have the momentum on your side. Just keep grinding it out. Victory is close...

Good luck on the paint!!
Thanks Gary. Just called Matt and it looks like it's going to be a couple more days but at least it's ready to go. He's still painting another car in the shop and needs to get it out of the booth. My wife just got insurance on the Nomad today because she didn't want me moving it without having it covered. I guess now it's covered til after it's driveable.
