    My 57 Belair convertible

    05/24/17

    Hi Guy's,
I just got my 57 Belair convertible on the road after my son and I installed a custom built 383 stroker (385 H.P.) with a B&M street & strip 700R4 trans.
Fifty years ago, my first car was a 57 Belair convertible painted the same color, dark metallic blue. So this car had to be the same color with 15" mags and
a three gauge cluster just like we had back in the day. ( Who says ya can't go back.... For a price!) And I sold it for $400 bucks to buy a used 65 GTO. Who Knew.
We struggled to make the ("I-DIDIT") trans. cable shift work with the stock steering column to keep
the appearance "Of a stock Powerglide column shifter" with the the only modification being the 700R4 shift indicator. The next project is a 3:73 Posi rear
to help it connect to the road. This engine was Dyno'ed at 385 H.P. with 422 pounds of torque at 2400 RPM so I chose a B&M 2400 stall Holeshot torque
converter which was the perfect match. This made the car a great cruiser. This my "Dairy Queen car" and my grandkids realy enjoy it, (but nobody eats
    in Grampa's car! )

I'm enjoying life and retirement as we all should be, and talking to other "Old Timers" at car shows there's many of us out there too. Well I just joined this site
and I'll be cruising it for info on what to look for for a used Posi. rear end that will fit my 57 with modification. Any advice, please let me know.
Sorry I couldn't attach a photo, my grandkids weren't around to show me how to do it. ( at times computers make me feel like a technical dinasour, know what I mean?)
    Thanks, Dan

Welcome aboard, Dan! Sounds like a great ride! Look forward to seeing photos of your car when you are ready. I'm technologically challenged as well when it comes to computers. Especially when it comes to posting photos that aren't 'hosted' by a friend elsewhere.

Back in the '70s, I had a '65 GTO, as well. Real beater. But it was a ragtop and had a 4-speed and low mileage '74 400 engine and I loved driving it when we were in port. After it was totaled, I pulled the engine and 4-speed and swapped them into a '56 Chevy at the auto hobby shop on base. Best driving '55 - '57 Chevy I have had to date.

    Happy Motoring,

    Harry
