    Newbee

Hi there. I'm Bob, my wife Peggy and I have purchased a '56 210 wagon. We will start fixing it up shortly. The plan is to leave the current Patina and upgrade most of the mechanicals and interior. It was a factory A/C car. Has power brakes and steering.

There are repairs to be done as well. Fuel tank leak at the filler neck. Generator light comes on above idle. Past owner torched the front springs to lower it and added blocks at the rear and a host of other things that will get fixed in time.

Looking forward to learning more about this car and the how to's on fixing it. This is my 6th Tri-five wagon and my second '56. I was young and foolish when I had the others.

Hope to meet and see people from here at local car shows here in SoCal.

Welcome to the site Bob. There's lots of guys here who know a lot about these cars. Looks like you have a nice solid car but I guess I never understood the "patina" thing.

Howdy, Bob! Glad to have you here. Sounds and looks like a nice project. I don't understand the patina thing, either. But at least prime the rust and put a sealer on it so it doesn't get worse. Your car is a classic and there will never be another made just like it. Preserve it the best that you can for future generations to enjoy as well.

    Best regards from Texas,

    Harry

The plan is to clear coat the body. There is not rust through. The car was parked outside for many years we were told before we got it. Some of the primed areas will get paint to somewhat match the rest of the car and I may metal prep remove some of the surface rust. It's all still in the planning stage. We are just driving and enjoying it now.

I think patina can be pretty cool. Just another form of auto art. Sometimes making an old car too nice is like a botox face lift. This car looks good.

That is cool looking. This has also become popular among the racers in Europe. Many are getting their cars wrapped to look like natural patina. https://www.yahoo.com/news/poseur-pr...150000722.html
