We're About To See the Most Powerful Corvette Chevy Has Ever Made

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/apos-...181540233.html

What we know so far: the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has a 750 horsepower engine. There are a few changes from the Corvette Z06, including a rear spoiler wing that is adjustable and contributes to 500 pounds of downforce at speed and front slightly wheels that are a half an inch wider.
The car is reportedly heavier than the Z06, has a new fuel delivery system, additional heat exchangers, removable top. Itís also supposed to be faster than the Zo6.
Oh, and the ZR1, which will be available as a 7-speed manual and 8-speed automatic, can reportedly shoot flames out from its exhaust.

The engine is so tall that the 755-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 literally pokes out of the hood. This is the ne plus ultra of any production car ever badged with a bowtie.

At the heart of every Corvette is a rip-roaring, fire-spitting V8. Anything else would be tantamount to treason, causing marches on Bowling Green calling for blood and the ashes of Zora Arkus-Duntov. The new LT5 might be named in honor of the 1990 ZR-1's (C4 had the hyphen) engine, but eschews that V8's dual-overhead cams. Instead, this pushrod V8 uses an Eaton supercharger that's 52-percent larger than the one on the Z06. The throttle body has a diameter of nearly 4 inches. All in, the LT5 makes 755 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 715 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. That's a 300-horsepower leap over the base Corvette.

There are pics of a prototype and I wouldn't be surprised to see one for 2020. Just guessing, I would bet they one-up the ZR-1 with a supercharged 7L engine over 800HP .

I'm not sure why they're already releasing a 2019 model when it's not even 2018.

Looks like all that speed and power came at the expense of looks and style.

It sure doesn't look like an old 60's car, that's for sure. It probably doesn't have a carburetor either. I think it's an awesome-looking beast.

The grey one looks better than the orange one to me. I guess trying to attract the lambo buyers...oh well there is something out there for everyone . I wonder if GM will do a retro vette similar to the camaro, the new chevelle???? Just maybe one of them will try to take an old 56 to the wood shed in the 1/8! lol

The gray one is by far better looking of the two.
