    1956 chevy 265 oil cannister tightening specs?

    I will be reinstalling my original metal oil canister back on soon.It has an original copper washer on the bolt and the cone washer inside.Is there a torque for this?Cant find anywhere and I want to keep this original.Thanks

    I don't recall ever seeing a torque spec for the oil canister... just snug it up... but NOT too tight.

    PS. Please recall that there is a 'rubber' seal that goes up into a groove in the block before the canister is installed. When you tighten the large bolt thru the center of the canister, you are really just sealing the upper edge of the canister to that rubber seal. Some people forgot to remove the old one when they changed their oil... so remember to remove the old seal (use a pic point or ?) and replace with new before installing the canister.
