Bob,
A few years ago, I saw an ad for someone who would take an
original
radio from a tri-five and replace the inside with a good
transistor AM/FM
radio. The appearance would look like the original radio.
Does anyone on your
list remember who it was that will do this work?

Greetings from Texas,

I thought my '55 two door sedan was complete until a few
weeks ago. The
passenger door window came out of the front vertical
channel and broke. I went
to a 55-57 glass specialist and he told me that my door is
missing a part that
stabilizes the rear of the channel that runs from the top
front corner of the
door glass, down the back of the door glass and ends about
a foot or so down
inside of the door. I looked at the glass channel (door pad
removed) and sure
enough the channel was hanging freely and unsupported. I'm
pretty certain that
my driver door is missing the same as well. If anyone has a
set that they'd like
to sell, please email me. I'd like to resolve this problem
before I have another
broken door glass to replace. Until then I must make sure
that the window is
rolled up before the door gets closed. Thanks for
maintaining the forum, Bob. I
look forward to receiving it each time you send them.

Need help with 57 Nomad fuse block diagram. It has the
original fuse block.
My taillights and license plate lights have an intermittent
sh ort.
Usually they do not work.
The turn signals and brake lights work fine.
Front parking lights work fine.
Is there a good place on the web to get a diagram of the
fuse block or could
someone email me the diagram.
I sure would appreciate it.
I've only had the car for a few days.
Thanks

I used to have saved a website that showed all the factory
paint-color combinations for 55/6/7 chevies, but I seem to
have lost it.

Does anybody know where I can find this information?

California Emissions Exemption Repeal Bill Will
Be Considered by
Senate Appropriations Committee on August 2nd;
Final Showdown

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (HEARING UPDATE)
California Emissions Exemption Repeal Bill Will
Be Considered by
Senate Appropriations Committee on August 2nd;
Final Showdown
As you are aware, the California Assembly and
now the Senate
Transportation Committee have passed A.B. 2683,
the legislation that
would repeal the stateÆs current rolling
emissions-test exemption
for vehicles 30 years old and older. A wide
array of business and
environmental interests aggressively support
this bill. The measure
would repeal the current pro-hobbyist exemption
and replace it with
a law requiring the permanent testing of all
1976 and newer model
vehicles. On Monday, August 2nd, the Senate
Appropriations
Committee has scheduled a hearing on this bill.
If the
Appropriations Committee passes this bill, the
entire Senate likely
will approve it as well and will send to the
Governor for his
signature. Make no mistake, our backs are
against the wall!
Call Members of the Senate Transportation
Committee (List Attached)
Immediately to Request Their Opposition to A.B.
2683
Even if you have called or e-mailed
previously,
it is critical that you make your feelings
known once again!
Existing law in California exempts all
vehicles 30 years old and
older from emissions testing.
CaliforniaÆs current emissions testing
exemption recognizes the
minimal impact of vehicles 30 years old and
older on vehicle
emissions and air quality.
Vehicles 30 years old and older constitute a
very small portion of
the overall vehicle population and are a poor
source from which to
look for emissions reduction.
Antique and classic vehicles are
overwhelmingly well-maintained
and infrequently driven (a fraction of the
miles each year as a
new vehicle).
Legislators, regulators and stationary source
polluters are
feeling the heat from a failed effort to meet
air quality goals
and are looking for a convenient scapegoat.
The old car hobby
should not carry the burden of their
mistakes!

Bob, two things: I thought it used to be cast iron
Powerglides were in
demand by racers because of two speeds and the strength.

Also, you misspelled "bologna". LOL.

Editor’s note. Does that mean I can’t spel too good? <G>

I love this list. I have learned a lot on it that has
helped me through the years.

Has anyone converted to an alternator? Did you have a good
or bad experience? Did the gen bulb still work after the
conversion?

Here is a question some of your more experienced (notice I
didn't say older) members might have an answer for.

If a beautiful lady invited you to go for a swim in her
cement pond, what city would you be in?

If anyone would like to have 15 inch NEC monitor, I have
one for you for free. Just come by and
pick it up. If you will by Saturday afternoon, you can pick
it up then.

If you live in California, you now have a powerful weapon
against identity theft. You can place a
"security freeze" on you credit report. It cost $10 to have
this done. Once it is done, no one can
get a copy of your credit report. If you apply for credit
in the future, you will have "unfreeze"
your credit report for a short time.

Here are the numbers to call to get the freeze done.
