    Seat mount bolts

I've sold dozens of Eldorado bucket seat mount kits and nobody has mentioned having any problems until today. I just had a customer tell me I sent the wrong bolts for the outboard mounts that bolt to the stock seat mount locations in his 55 Chevy. They are 5/16"-NC on my 56 Nomad so that's what I have always sent in all the kits. I checked the Hemi 55 in my shop that still has the original floors and they are 5/16"-NF. So I re-checked them in my Nomad and they are definitely 5/16"-NC. I used CARS parts to rebuild my floor and replaced those seat mount plates.

This customer says he has new Taiwan floors. I'm pretty sure they're all the same floors, so why would his have NF nuts welded to it? Do all the new Taiwan floors have 5/16"-NF nuts?

I just pulled a seat mount bolt from my 56 parts car and it's 5/16-NF too. So the stock floors must have had NF bolts. Now I wonder why my Nomad has NC nuts in the floor. Do any of you guys have cars you can check the seat mount nuts in? Just curious if I should be shipping NF instead of NC, or BOTH.

Interesting, thanks guys. Looks like CARS (Sherman??) used the wrong nuts on my seat mount plates and probably in all of their floors too. What's puzzling to me is why nobody's mentioned it over the years I've been selling these things. Also, for some reason they don't make the black grade 8 flange bolts in a NF thread and the length I need, and the ones that do make are WAY more expensive than the NC ones. So I just got some regular 5/16-NF grade 8 bolts to ship in the next kit.

Pretty sure mine are 5/16" NC, and they are original to the car which was built at the Los Angeles assembly plant. I wonder if it depends on where the car was built, or what year it is. Maybe should just have the customer let you know what they have in their car when they order.

Yup, a US made repop floor. I think all the Sherman floors had 5/16-NC nuts. My customer called the place where he got his Taiwan floor and they told him they're all NF.

It really doesn't matter what thread they used, unless you're trying to put together a kit!!
