    57 bel air 4 door

I've come upon a 57 bel air 4 door and need to sell it; looking of guidance on pricing and where ti market it. It is in partial restoration and is a rolling chassis--engine out, transmission missing, rear bumper and trim pieces there. Pictures upon request.--have a vin number with no known owner; how do I proceed

Unless you can get a clear title its just another 4 door parts car.

Dan, its value on the open market will depend on its condition and its completeness, mainly. To a lesser degree, the model and body style. And whether or not you have a clear title.

If you do not have clear title and sell it on a bill of sale, it is not worth much except as a parts car.

Of course the bottom line is that anything for sale is only worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

    Good luck,

    Harry

Not sure I understand the title concern. I don't think the OP said he didn't have a title, and lots of old cars without titles get new titles. It depends on state laws. If the VIN tag is gone, it's probably a different issue. I'm pretty sure a 4 door HT is worth more than a 4 door sedan. It's definitely a more desirable car.

I agree with CN on the first portion of this post, but...

As for value, not everyone would prefer a 4-dr HT... some of us prefer sedans due to their structural advantages...

If that was true I think more people would prefer 2D sedans over 2DHTs too. I don't think that's the case, even though I prefer the 2D sedan. I'm pretty sure a 2DHT is generally the more desired model and has higher value. Personally I'd much prefer a 4DHT over a 4D sedan.
