57 2 Door HT Back Glass Shelf Issue

Beyond a full quarter, any thoughts on this repair? Both sides exhibit this condition. I don't really want to buy a shrinker/stretcher.

First thing I would do is cut out the rust and see what you have left. Try to keep it confined to a flat piece if you can. It may require more than that. Doesn't look that bad to me.

Looks like most of it is on the horizontal surface. Fix it with flat pieces. You may need to fix a place on the vertical here or there, just do that with flat pieces too. Fillet weld where they meet and grind so that the weld bead doesn't interfere with the gasket. I'd think that even a guy with a shrinker/stretcher might do it that way. To me it would have to be a lot worse to require a patch formed on the shrinker/stretcher.

Mine wasn't quite as extensive, but did have a gap on the vertical surface like yours. Fixed it with a flat piece.
