    Sanding discs

Been going through too many sanding discs lately so I decided to pony up for the ceramic ones by 3M (especially since Jegs has them on sale...and free shipping over $100). The sanding discs I was getting locally were about $0.95 each and I would have used about three doing what I did tonight. The sale price on these 3M's worked out to just over $1.50 each. I'm still on the first one and it's still going strong. I think these are going to be another of those "getting what you paid for" type things. Should have bought these long time ago.

Thanks for the tip. I seem to go through a lot of discs, and I probably don't do 2% of the metalwork you do!.

Technically they're all "ceramic". Aluminum oxide is ceramic. What kind are those? I go through them pretty fast too. I use 2-3 7" discs on one frame. But I only pay $3 each for them (Norton).

    Introducing 3M Precision-Shaped Grain

3M Precision-Shaped Grain is the advanced technology behind our 3M™ Cubitron™ II products. Here’s how it works: Precision-Shaped Grain is designed with sharp, angular structures that continuously fracture to form sharp points.

    The Science of Speed.
These clean, sharp points mean an abrasive that slices faster, runs cooler, and lasts much longer than conventional abrasives, which generate excessive heat buildup and have a shorter life. We have observed 3M™ Cubitron™ II products cutting faster and lasting up to 2x longer than some competitive products.

I wonder why some are red and some are blue. Maybe the adhesive holding the particles on? I see lots of them on Ebay. May have to try some.....thanks for the tip.

What size are they? They look a lot larger than what I have. Without measuring, I'm guessing mine are 2". Now what else do I need from Jegs ...

Crap, did I miss the sale?

They're all over ebay for $26-$30 for a 15 pack of the 3" ones (almost the same price)... I bought some earlier in the year from an ebay seller and they're great.. just took a little longer to get them shipped than it would have from Jegs
