Congratulations on the first drive. My first 55 I was so anxious to drive, I was sitting on a milk crate and ran a string through the firewall to the carb to control the throttle.

I made my first 2 mile voyage with this car , except it was licensed, a windshield, belts, and insured. I was still very paranoid.

This wagon is rough still...not ready for prime time...but once I get a windshield in it, seatbelts in, DMV registration paid (in non-op status currently) and some insurance..I'll be able to start the road testing at length. All while I continue to fabricate alot of interior sheet metal, and such.

    Enjoy.

Looks Like that was Fun Fun,

Sounds Nice , keep the pictures and Video's coming

    Thanks Sid

You married guys may want to turn up the volume and listen to the reactions from my wife. It was her first ride in the Nomad after all these years too.
Everything from "I'm not into this shit" (burnout at the beginning) to "hey, you need a windshield" to ....
Married 30 years to this girl. She's a keeper.

Once you get the car finished, she'll be wanting to 'take the Nomad' everytime you get out in a car!

I haven't done squat to this Nomad in 2 months! Been preoccupied again...

Just found out that Auto City Glass will sell a complete 10 piece smoked gray glass set INCLUDING new vent wing and door chrome frames (glass installed) for just under $1300 + $179 for shipping to CA. Should I jump on that?

Paul, it depends on the quality of the new frames. I bought new convertible vent frames and assembled them myself. It wan't hard but buying a new assembly is easier. I already had the glass so my choice was new frames. On the door frames, I was really hesitant to buy new. I sent mine to Madmooks for re-chroming and I'm glad I did. It was definitely more expensive but they look awesome and I know they're made correctly. I don't know how the new Nomad window frames fit or look.

what are you guys doing for custom seat belts? I'm struggling with the 3 point belts that came out of the 2001 lexus I took them (and the seats) out of. The retractors don't want to retract...
I've used Julianos for my last wagon, and to be honest..I'd like something a bit higher end this time...
Any advise on seat belt vendors from you guys building custom rides?
