Thanks guys. It's called "uninterrupted time due to work from home" I'm no longer even keeping track of the hours I have into this hobby. If i knew, it would make me think twice about how I'm spending my time and watching the years go by. But I'm having FUN doing it.

Update: New hood latch installation. The old one was junk, so I crafted a newer latch setup...

Started with a late model VW latch. You can find this on eBay for about $30. https://www.ebay.com/p/2123179042?

Starting with the upper latch, it was already configured to fit the existing 2 bolt holes in the brace, so with a little elongation of the holes, bolts right up.

Then made a cardboard template of a new lower bracket, for the VW piece to bolt into:

Once I was satisfied it all lined up properly, I transfered the template to some heavy sheetmetal and fabricated the bracket.

Then had to cut and modify the lower bracket (which bolts thru the lower pan) so that It would contain a mounting point for this new bracket.

Then prime and paint all pieces.

    And install it:

After it was all installed, I needed to add a new hood latch cable setup. Found this AutoLoc chrome handled universal one eBay for about $36. Made a small bracket and mounted it to the Lokar emergency brake bracket under the dash. Routed the cable thru the firewall, inside the inner fender, then thru the inner fender again behind the horizontal valance/chrome blinker bar/grill area, connecting to the latch.

So here's the finished hood in the closed position...

    So that's it for now.
