    Question about 56 bumpers

I'm looking for some help identifying the bumper add-on's that are shown on the front and back bumpers of my recently purchased Nomad. I've looked through several website and catalogs and can't seem to locate these bumper parts.

    Any help is appreciated,

    Thanks, Bob

I believe the terminology for those are 'fender guards', (and 'grill guard for that middle piece in front of the grill), and were sold as *accessories* from GM dealers originally. I do not believe anyone has reproduced those, but you can occasionally find NOS ones, or find good used ones to rechrome. Yours look to be in pretty good shape, maybe only needing to be rechromed?

Note: IMO, rechromed original parts (bumpers or whatever) are BETTER than any of the aftermarket stuff...

Carl, Your post does nothing except CONFUSE the issue asked by the OP.

'bumper guards' are the two basic guards which EVERY bumper was supplied with from the factory.

'Fender guards' (and grill guard) are the accessory items which the OP was inquiring about.

Thank you all. I appreciate the responses. I'm probably going to remove these but will hang onto them for a while to make sure whether I like it better with or without them.

    Thanks again,

To me a modified car looks better without them. You may have some rust etc. under them unless they are a recent plating job. But minor stuff may polish out.

I do like the color scheme on your car, it's different.

I had a set of bumpers with them on my car when I bought it. I sold them at a swap meet and went with a one piece front and wagon rear bumper. I liked the look better. The guy who bought mine put them on his car with fender skirts and it seemed to fit the image better.
