    Confused

Either I am confused or Eckler's is. I need a transmission mount cross member for a '56 convertible.
Eckler's has two listed. They say one is for Turbo Hydra-Matic 200, 400 but I thought these were different lengths. The other is for TH700R4, TH350 Or 4L60E but I thought these were different lengths.

I thought the 350 and 200 were the same length. And I thought the the 400 and the 700R4 were the same length. So I don't know if I am confused. Can someone straighten me out. I plan to install a 700R4.

First I am aware of two lengths of Th350 and two of TH400, Neither 400 is same as 700. There are also 3 and 4 speed 200s..

Good complete handy chart Nick. The only thing I note is that the chart shows a short tailhousing 350 at 27-5/8", a long Powerglide at 28-5/16", and a 200-4R at 28-1/4". I think the short 350 is very close to the PG and 200-4R. All 3 are close enough to use the same driveshaft. Which I have done on the same car that had all 3 at one time. Far as I know the trans mount distances are good. I suspect that the 21-5/8" dimension for the 350 should be 22-5/8" or even 22-5/16".

Thanks for the chart Nick . Now I don't have to be confused anymore. I didn't know they made so many lengths of transmissions.

Nice chart I have never seen that before. Confirms my suspicions.

Why would the transmission length affect the crossmember? Seems to me it would just mount further back on the frame.

After studying the situation I realized that the transmission length wasn't the deciding factor for which cross member I needed. It is the distance from the front of the transmission to the trans mount. So the one for the 700R4 and the TH350 would be the cross member I need. Thanks to everyone for the help.
