    New member from England

Hi all, I have just joined this forum, bought a 57 BelAir 4door sedan (sorry) last year 6 cyl with 3 speed auto, drum brakes and manual steering, nice condition, a few paint blemishes and minor welding to the inner sills(rockers) .
I used an American car specialist about 100 miles from where we live, they have fitted a crate 350 with headers and mild cam and Eldebrock carb, 4speed plus overdrive auto box, power steering box and disc brake conversions as well.
Because it is the unfashionable 4door sedan, which doesn’t bother me, I was able to buy it already here in the UK at a good price and spend more money getting it to where I want it, a 2door of any type over here would be triple the price.
I have also been a biker since I was 16, and still own 4 bikes, been all over Europe on bikes, as far as Jugoslavia, been to the Isle of Man TT many times, had our honeymoon there in 1972,
I have owned and run English classic cars before, mostly Vauxhall’s as I did my apprenticeship in a G M garage from 15 years old, but this is my first US classic car.
We have visited the USA around 7 times and BC Canada the same number of times to visit family in Vancouver.
Sorry for such a long intro folks.

Welcome to the site. Your 57 looks nice, and 4 doors seem to be becoming more popular even in the US as time goes by. Who knows, one of these days a 2-door might be seen as a liability since they're harder to get in an out of the back seat.

Hi chevynut, I agree with you, 4 doors do make a lot of sense from the user point of view, I don’t care if they are not “cool”, I bought it because it was a good price and a lot cheaper than a 2 door, also it had already been imported into the UK from Texas, so saved me on shipping costs and import taxes.Result!
By the way, I have been to Ft Collins to the AFB there, or am I mistaken on location, love CO best after WY, especially The Durango to Silverton steam train journey and Mesa Verde, oh , and Estes Park as well.!

Injebreck99, Fort Collins is in northern Colorado just 20 minutes or so south of Wyoming. I think you're talking about Colorado Springs, which is south of Denver. It has an AFB and the USAF Academy, as well as the Army base Fort Carson. I live just an hour or so from Estes Park.

Colorado is kind of a lost cause for me (too many libtards) so I'm actively looking to buy a place in Montana. I grew up in this area of Colorado and lived here since I was 3 and in the same house for the past 31 years, so it's hard to leave. Colorado is beautiful but there's just too many people here for my taste now. Montana is a 50% larger (land area) state with less than 20% of the people, and no huge cities or strips of cities like the Colorado Front Range. I think the largest city in Montana is about 100K people. Wyoming is nice and my wife is from there, but she says she won't live there because of the constant wind. I understand that being from the UK you might not see where I'm coming from, because it's a different world there.

    Again, welcome to the site!

My mistake, it was a few years ago when we visited there.
I can understand what you’re saying about too many people about, you should try living in the UK, millions of people all crowded into our tiny island, you would feel really hemmed in here.
I agree MT is lovely, but still like WY best.
