Hi all, I have just joined this forum, bought a 57 BelAir 4door sedan (sorry) last year 6 cyl with 3 speed auto, drum brakes and manual steering, nice condition, a few paint blemishes and minor welding to the inner sills(rockers) .
I used an American car specialist about 100 miles from where we live, they have fitted a crate 350 with headers and mild cam and Eldebrock carb, 4speed plus overdrive auto box, power steering box and disc brake conversions as well.
Because it is the unfashionable 4door sedan, which doesn’t bother me, I was able to buy it already here in the UK at a good price and spend more money getting it to where I want it, a 2door of any type over here would be triple the price.
I have also been a biker since I was 16, and still own 4 bikes, been all over Europe on bikes, as far as Jugoslavia, been to the Isle of Man TT many times, had our honeymoon there in 1972,
I have owned and run English classic cars before, mostly Vauxhall’s as I did my apprenticeship in a G M garage from 15 years old, but this is my first US classic car.
We have visited the USA around 7 times and BC Canada the same number of times to visit family in Vancouver.
