Correct number of 1957 Nomads produced

Hello everyone , I purchased my 1957 Nomad a year ago and the firewall trim tag reads:Style- 57-1064DF . "Body CL 6274". Trim -691 , and paint 817D .This info makes this car the 6274 Nomad body built. It is canyon coral with black and silver interior. I spoke to John Chamber's about the car and he has seen it at Nomad shows and has spoken to the previous owners . Also I believe the How to restore your 1957 Chevrolet by Howard Louisiana lists the total production figures for the 1957 Nomads at 6534. I believe this to be the correct number produced. The vin. number is VC57A213422 . This is a V-8 car built in Atlanta at the very end of August. The Engine cast date is H127= August 12th 1957. Domenic

Sounds like a nice 'end of year' Nomad, and like Sid, I'd love to see some photos! Is it restored? or a restoration project? (I see from your earlier posts that you are looking for some correctly dated original parts.)

Is your car solid color canyon coral? OR does it have the ivory roof? (817 should be two tone). Your car was about 8000 from the end of the '57 line at the Atlanta plant, probably came off the line sometime the 3rd week of August; your engine is dated very close to the production date of the car? How did you figure the date to be 28 August?

Your Nomad's body was ~ 260 from the end of the Nomad line in the Cleveland fisher plant in '57~

Hello and thank you for replying . I have a friend who worked in the GM Tarrytown NY assembly plant his whole life.He started their in 1958. He told me that the plant always shut down for Saturdays and Sundays . Using this info, along with the How to restore your 1957 Chevrolet by Howard Louisiana book it shows how many 57 Chevrolets were made in Atlanta per month. also factor in that some parts of the year they were making more per month that other parts of the year. Deduct 8 weekend days, per month. When Cleveland produced the body, it not only pained it their but also installed all the interior and any accessories for that car. It then loaded it onto a train car straight up and down with no frames attached. Is it possible that some 57 Nomads were made in September 57. If they had left over parts ? Tell me how to post pictures, thanks Domenic

Domenic... His name was 'Harold Louisiana'... not Howard.
