    motor identification

    just got my baby (55 210 hardtop post) and starting to figure out what i have and what has been done to her over the years as it appears shes been molested bad. Tran i figured out is a 350Turbo but the motor is in ? stamp on block is K0403DTW then 39D470056. i cant find any thing to say what i got. 1 says 305 another says 350 autozone has no clue i know its correct number as a few others have same markings trying to figure what they have. thks for any help. will post pics of my poor ole girl soon.

    There's no 'DTW' suffix shown in Ed's Lime book.... Ae you sure you read it correctly?

    Personally I like "molested" cars better than original cars!!

    What's a "hardtop post"? If it has a post, it's a sedan.

    Look behind the driver's side head for the block casting number....that will give a good start.

    yep it is correct i have seen others asking about the same stamp and nobody seems to have an answer what it is

    DTU is a 1979 305 and and DWT is a 1983 TBI 305. Check the numbers again and supply a casting number. its likely a 305

    I did'nt see "DTW" either, but all the "DT_" series, were 305ci used in 1979 ONLY. There were 16 "DT_" motors going from "DTA" to "DTZ" with "10" missing. "DTW" is one of the missing.
